Ladies and gentlemen, Wii have a winner!
by Special K Having passed through the pain that was staring at my Christmas stocking knowing full well there was a Wii in there, the 25th of December rolled around and the Wii was unleashed. In hindsight I did the right thing in buying the console and second controller including the Wii Play game. Now in late January 2007, there are virtually no consoles left and even fewer accessories! To make matters worse, the consensus is that we will not have a new shipment of Wii accessories until mid February! In spite of the bad news, I'm really happy to see Nintendo have an immensely successful launch
with the Wii and proving themselves to be a big player in the Next-Gen console wars.
Honey I shrunk the console! My first impressions of the console were "Shit that's small". To give you an idea, my old... Read On |

Winback 2: Project Poseidon. PS2 Review Bring it back, Sing it back to me
by Australian Ninja If you want to win at this game, you'll need to recall Patches O' Houlihan's sage like advice:
"Just remember the five D's of dodgeball: Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and...Dodge."
Winback 2 - it's the sequel that wants to be better than the original, but it's not. Truthfully I got more enjoyment from the first Winback on N64.
The first Winback was a decent game for it's time. A third person action shooter game that required you to run around killing terrorists with occasional puzzles and boss fights.... Read On |

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007. PS2/Xbox Review Our Wrestling Section Lead gets back in the ring
by The Gimmick To be perfectly honest, I hadn't heard a lot about Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 until right before it was released, and surprisingly what I heard was mixed. It wasn't until I got a copy that I realized what they were talking about. I was intrigued before hand, being a massive fan of last year's release, on whether or not THQ and Yukes could do what they had done for so many years - that is, improve on their preceding title - this time around. And also what else could be done to this genre to make people want to go and pick up this game one more time. What does the Gimmick think? Read on.... Read On |

Call Of Duty 3. Xbox 360 Review Jason scores a hat trick
by Jason Some people don't like sequels. After the second or third addition to a popular franchise they just wash their hands of the whole affair and write the whole thing off as a cash in. Eventually these poor narrow minded people will learn, for the most part, sequels get better with each new addition to the series, which brings us to where we are now - reviewing Call of Duty 3.... Sammy's Wii thoughts. You say you want a Revolution? Well, you know, Wii all want to change the world.
by Hillelman I've been having a lot of fun with the Nintendo Wii. It really is quite an amazing system. It is a trip and just so unique. I'm not going to give a standard review of the console though. This is just me shooting the breeze about the Wii and Nintendo and things of that nature. More or less, I just felt like crapping on about the various things it got me thinking about.... Read On |

Enchanted Arms. Xbox 360 Review Jason is always enchanting. He's also always armed.
by Jason Well "Enchantment Breaking Arms" would be a title closer to the mark, but we'll get to that shortly. It seems Ubisoft have taken a brief break from their ever growing catalogue of Tom Clancy games and knocked up an RPG. Is it any good? Well read on.... Read On |

Guitar Hero 2. PlayStation 2 Review I wanna rock 'n' roll, no matter how long it is to the top!
by Hillelman This may come as a shock, Buttonholers but I am, as always, telling the truth: Not all of my friends/acquaintances are as geeky as me. In fact, a few of them wouldn't even qualify as geeks at all. Some of them rarely, if ever, even play videogames! I don't know what is wrong with them, but I guess nobody is perfect. However, occasionally there have been games that not only enthral me and my 'hardcore gamer' brothers & sisters, but also manage to capture the attention and affection of my generally 'non-gaming' mates. Guitar Hero 2 is just such a game. ... Read On |

Info on Iron Man game & Sonic for 360. Press Release A bit of news on 2 Sega titles that are likely to rock
by Hillelman Here is some news Sega sent out recently, regarding two games I think will be highly anticapted by many Buttonholers. Firstly, any games and movies based on comic book characters will always attract plenty of attention from Buttonhole and our readers. So I'm sure you'll be happy to have a read of Sega's Press Release about the upcomming Iron Man game, based on the film adaptation.
Below that is the Press Release about the new Sonic The Hedgehog game, for the Xbox 360. I have learned by now, through the emails I've receieved about the subject, that many of you folks share my love for Sonic. His Xbox 360 title looks like a real return to form too. Check it out!... Read On |

Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires. Xbox 360 Review Jason hacks up hundreds of people. Then plays this game.
by Jason KOEI Ltdare obviously firm believers in the "if it aint broke don't fix it" philosophy, as evidenced by this game, which is the latest in a series that has graced just about every game playing device known to man. At first the premise was simple; beat the living shit out of the controller to cut down vast hordes of blokes that all look the same.... Read On |

Q&A with David Kazim from GO3 This Aussie 'electronic entertainment expo' sounds awesome!
by Hillelman I am really excited about the upcoming event called GO3. I believe it is fantastic to see Australia getting a huge game and eletronics show of this nature and I'm sure everyone who reads Buttonhole would feel the same way. Recently the Event Coordinator of GO3, Mr. David Kazim, took the time to provide us with some very interesting information about the show. Thanks David! I hope you all enjoy the Q&A.... Read On |

Sonic Riders. PS2/Gamecube/Xbox Review Aussie Ninja becomes a rider on the storm
by Australian Ninja Sometimes I wonder just how many people watched Back to the Future Part Two. I mean did they invent hover boards in that movie, or did hover boards predate the film? I don't know. Maybe hover boards have been around since the time of the Dinosaurs until they all died of a horrific and foolish accident in the first 'Extreme Downhill Dinosaur Hoverboard X-Game Championships'. ... Sammy's PlayStation 2 Retrospective (and Max Drive review) Make what you will of my inane ramblings
by Hillelman Buttonhole's friends at Realgamer sent me a lovely little device for the PlayStation 2 called Max Drive (which I shall discuss in more detail towards the end of this article). That cool little gadget actually wound up breathing some new life into some of my favourite PS2 titles. In turn, it got me thinking about the PlayStation 2 in general and all the good times I have had with the system. Since the PS2 has now reached the later stages of its lifespan, I figured this would be a fine time to take a look back at the old girl and reflect on some of the fun she's provided me with.... Madden NFL 06. Xbox 360 Review Jason won't pretend to know, or like, anything about the NFL
by Jason American football is a subject I claim complete ignorance of. I know it involves large men in larger padding occasionally hitting each other and another not quite so large bloke that comes on to the filed every now and then to actually kick the ball. But that's about the extent of my knowledge. So the NFL fans (they must exist or there would be little point to EA Games punching out this title on a yearly basis) will have to excuse me if I say something stupid.... Read On |

Sammy's Xbox 360 Software Buyer's Guide Spectacular #1 1st half of my super-late look at every 360 game I've played
by Hillelman My Xbox 360 coverage got off to a bad start and things just continued to go wrong from there. My reviews for the system's software kept getting stuck on the backburner, while I was dealing with other things (some of those things were good, others...not so much). Anyway, I have now amassed a decent little library of 360 games; all of which are way, way, waaaay overdue for review here at Buttonhole. ... Read On |

Nintendo Wii Launch Date Announced Wii set to hit our shores just in time for Christmas!
by Special K Kris's Comment
Now it gets interesting Nintendo announce the Wii release date!
The Wii will hit our shelves on 7th of December 2006, and with a retail price of $399.95 - about the same as a PSP, a free disk of Wii sports games - there's a lot to be happy about! I know I'm not the only member of the Buttonhole family who is keen to get their hands on the new Nintendo hardware and with the Playstation 3 release pushed back to March 2007, it will be interesting to watch the next gen console wars heat up!...
