Sammy's note: I screwed things up again for poor Gimmick. I was actually away when he sent this is in, which is why it didn't get posted closer to the date of the PPV. Sorry again, dude! However, there's no need to let his good work go to waste. The SummerSlam 06 DVD will be available soon, so you can now read Gimmick's report to help you decide whether or not you should purchase that disc.
REY MYSTERIO Vs CHAVO GUERRERO
One year later and Rey is battling another Guerrero and this one was just as good as last years against Eddie. Also this was really reminiscent of the battle between Bret and Owen Hart from Wrestlemania X in the way that maybe Chavo can now get some overdue respect. It was an even contest with both men taking chances to beat and humiliate the other. Towards the end, Vickie Guerrero hit the ring and tried to stop the match first by slapping Chavo and then a bit later on as Rey had control, she accidentally knocked him off the top rope. Chavo, seeing this, seized the opportunity, hit a brain buster then went up top and hit the Frog Splash and got a huge win. Vickie screamed knowing that she inadvertently screwed Rey.
WINNER: CHAVO GUERRERO
Backstage King Booker and Queen Sharmell are discussing things of a royal nature when WWE Champion Edge and WWE Women's Champion Lita interrupted them. Booker bets that when Edge loses he will have to kiss his royal feet and Edge wages that when the King loses he will be Edge's servant. It seems that betting isn't illegal in the world of pro wrestling amongst the combatants. And BTW, both the King and Queen have now taken on a nasty British accent since they have become royalty. They must be watching too much UK TV.
ECW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
SABU Vs BIG SHOW
This was the first time ever that an ECW title has been on the line at Summer Slam and it was extreme rules. I must say also that, Big Show has been impressive since becoming ECW Champ and I think the ECW fans should lay off just a little. The match was good with a couple of missed spots but when you have a guy like Sabu working, that is bound to happen only because he is so hard and fast that nobody is perfect. Sabu did what he could against the big man but the Champ kept finding a way to come back and even impressed everyone when he hit the challenger with a huge Vader Bomb. No Shit!! Big Show went out side and threw both parts of the steps and a table in the ring and set the table across the steps. Sabu hit a springboard on Show and DDT'd him through the table. Nice!!! Sabu set up another table in ring and went for the same thing but Big Show caught him and Chokeslammed him through it and got the 3 count.
WINNER: AND STILL ECW CHAMPION - BIG SHOW
Backstage Trish is with Candice and Torrie as Diva Search Winner Layla entered to a heated reception from the girls. Trish explained why her and the others were real divas and Layla looked nervous. But they were only ribbing her and they took her into the showers and wet her and they all joined her. I knew that's what women do when they are alone with each other!
 | | Here's pointing at you, kid | RANDY ORTON Vs HULK HOGAN
Hogan is back and he knows best, apparently. This wasn't as good as his match last year against HBK but, to be fair, his knee became injured just days before, so his mobility was almost as bad as Dean Riloli on a bad day. But that didn't stop the thousands of Hulk-a-maniacs and thousands of Orton haters coming together to cheer this old warrior. Hogan used his power early on to take over but Orton came back stalling the legend by working over his leg. When Orton missed a top rope flying body press it looked like Hogan would mount his offence but Orton hit a big Dropkick and then the RKO and got a 3 count. But the ref nullified it when he realized Hogan's foot was on the rope. As Orton complained Hogan hulked up and the rest is history. Big boot + Legdrop = 1, 2, 3.
WINNER: HULK HOGAN
Mick Foley and Melina are backstage and Foley told her he would make Flair say "I Quit!" Get ready, because it's next!
I QUIT MATCH
MICK FOLEY Vs RIC FLAIR
This one was personal as these two real life adversaries beat the crap out of each other. After seeing Flair's work in ECW a month ago I knew this would be brutal but I didn't expect what I saw. Foley got the early advantage and used Socko and the Mandible Claw to get an "I Quit" from Flair, he said nothing so Foley wrapped the sock in Barbed Wire and went to use it, but Flair countered with the Testicular Claw. He took Socko, wire and all, and chopped Foley until his chest was bleeding. Foley came back and found a barbed wire board under the ring and busted Flair open with it. He continued to use the barbed wire to batter and splatter Flair worse than before, and when he refused to quit Foley Brought out the thumbtacks. He drove Flair's head into them and again he refused to quit so Foley went for a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire and raked Flair's head with it. Flair was some how able to come back and gained control of the match and the bat.
 | | Flair is so old, his matches are in black and white | He went crazy with it on Foley on both his head and arm. Flair knocked Foley off the apron and he hit the ground HARD! Melina came down to ringside as a medic checked on Foley and said it was over. Flair said it's an I Quit match and no medic would stop it, so he stepped his brutality up a notch and threw Mick back in and raked the bat across his head and into his eye. Melina threw the towel in and said it was over but again Flair had other ideas. He grabbed the bat and was about to strike Melina when Foley screamed "I Quit" to stop the attack. This match was friggin brutal, you have to see it.
WINNER: RIC FLAIR
Backstage the McMahon's were with Armando and they said they might need to use Umaga as an insurance policy and Armando agreed.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
BATISTA Vs KING BOOKER W/ QUEEN SHARMELL
I was impressed with the King in this one and have been for a while but Batista is another story. He doesn't seem too interested ever since he returned a while ago and this match just emphasized that jaded attitude he has been exhibiting. My opinion only! The Animal gained control early using his immense strength but The King used his royal brain matter to wrest back the control. He wore down the challenger at every opportunity but Batista always found a way to come back. Mid match, when Sharmell distracted the ref Booker hit Batista with the royal scepter, but again The Animal kept coming after him. After the pendulum had swung numerous times Batista finally gained full control and after a Jackhammer and a Full Nelson Slam he went for the Batista Bomb. But the Queen jumped in and hit Batista and the ref disqualified the King.
WINNER: BY DISQUALIFICATION - BATISTA
Backstage DX are talking to someone in a random locker room telling them that Vince thinks Umaga is the biggest monster in WWE. I think they now have some back up if and when Umaga shows his ugly head.
VINCE AND SHANE MCMAHON Vs D-GENERATION X
DX hit the ring first followed by the McMahon's, but they stop short and bring out the Spirit Squad to soften up DX. Unfortunately DX disposed of the Squad quicker than a $2 whore. But Vince wasn't finished quite yet as Mr. Kennedy, William Regal & Finlay came to help the boss. All three ended up outside as Big Show hit the ring and he beat down HBK in side as the other three took out Triple H outside. Big Show destroyed Michaels and went outside and put him Triple H through the announce table. The McMahon's finally made there way to the ring and controlled Shawn as Triple H was KO'd on the floor. It was basically a handicap match with the McMahon's working over an already beaten HBK and midway through, hit HBK with first a Demolition Decapitator, A Hart Foundation "Heart Attack" and finally an LOD "Doomsday Device". I was waiting to see them do the "Le Rougeau De Bomb" or a Power & Glory "Power-Plex" but I guess they needed too much athleticism for those moves. Anyway soon after Triple H finally gets up and HBK simultaneously gets control and tags in The Game and just when DX were gonna win, Umaga hits the ring and attacks HBK outside the ring. Armando distracts the ref and Umaga hit Triple H with the Spike and was about to hit HBk with it when Kane hit the ring and brawled with Umaga all the way to the back. With Triple H down in ring and HBK down outside the McMahon's looked to end it. Shane grabbed a trash can and went to hit the Van Terminator on The Game but HBK caught him with Sweet Chin in mid air and knocked him cold. It looked awesome! Shawn then superkicked Vince and then Triple H hit the Pedigree for the 3 count.
WINNERS: D-GENERATION X
 | | Lita is no stranger to three-way action | WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
JOHN CENA Vs EDGE W/ LITA
Not a bad match but the interesting thing was that Cena got booed in his home town of Boston as the crowd was split 50/50. Cena was controlling things early on when he missed a charge in the corner and almost got counted out. The control fluctuated from here on in with Cena nearly getting counted out on two more occasions and Edge doing everything to stay on the challenger. The end came as both men hit each other with a clothesline and edge managed to get up first and try for a spear. Cena moved and slapped on the STFU as Edge struggled to get to the ropes. He eventually did and as the ref's back was turned, Lita handed Edge the Brass Knuckles. Edge decked Cena as the ref was again distracted, (how do these guys concentrate on anything when they can't do so at work?) and pinned Cena 1, 2, 3.
WINNER: AND STILL WWE CHAMPION - EDGE

A pretty good show, but in my opinion there were too many RAW matches and not enough Smackdown matches. | |
